Fort Myers High student Cody Baguidy celebrated during Inclusion Week

FORT MYERS, Fla. —

At Fort Myers High, students await what's arguably the most anticipated athletic event of the year.

"Special Olympics celebrates inclusion for the month of March," teacher Garret Copeland said.

Today, students with special needs hit the court to shoot some hoops.

There's one player in particular who can't help but bring the hype. This athlete lacks no confidence. He's number 12 — Cody Baguidy.

"He is probably the most decorated athlete we've had in the 10 years we've played unified competitive sports," Copeland said.

He didn't make every shot, but he did score a group of friends he loves, a goal for his future, and even a girlfriend who checks all the boxes.

"I have a girlfriend named Felicia," Cody said. "She's kind. She likes to play hangman, the game hangman."

Although Cody missed the net many times, this team still hit everything that matters.

"We partnered with Thrive Academy of Cape Coral to help them get their unified sports program started," Copeland said.
