Two brush fires burn off Collier Boulevard Monday

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. —

Crews are battling two brush fires burning near each other in Collier County Monday.

The fires are in the area of Collier Boulevard, Rattlesnake Hammock Road and Hacienda Lakes Parkway in an open field located west of the sports park and south of Sapphire Cove.

According to the Greater Naples Fire Rescue District, they responded around 1:53 p.m. The primary fire is about 14 acres and 40% contained, while the secondary fire, which was caused by an ember, is about 2.5 acres and 60% contained as of 4:34 p.m.

The fire district said it has received assistance from the Florida Forest Service, North Collier Fire Control and Rescue District, Collier County Sheriff's Office's patrol vehicles and helicopters and Collier County EMS.

No injuries have been reported and no evacuations have been necessary, the fire district said.
