Fatal crash on I-75 in Collier County leaves one dead, two injured

COLLIER COUNTY - A serious crash on northbound Interstate 75 led to the death of a 69-year-old woman and left two drivers with serious injuries, according to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred near mile marker 86 when a semi-truck driven by a 33-year-old man from Pompano Beach failed to slow down and collided with an SUV, causing a chain reaction involving multiple vehicles.

The woman, a passenger in the SUV, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The SUV's driver, a 71-year-old man from Wilmington, Massachusetts, and a 57-year-old driver from Fort Lauderdale, were seriously injured and airlifted to hospitals.

The investigation is ongoing.
