A hit-and-run crash investigation ended in a DUI arrest after a woman reportedly hit multiple vehicles along Immokalee Road before driving back to her home.
On Saturday, Collier County deputies received a call about the crash at the intersection of Immokalee Road and Oil Well Road.
The victim, who called deputies, told them that the woman, later identified as Sylvia Bocwinski, 53, crashed into his car and another one before hitting other vehicles as she continued driving on Immokalee Road.
According to the Collier County Sheriff's Office, the victim said that after the initial crash, he tried to talk to Bocwinski to start a crash report. However, Bocwinski reportedly drove past the victim.
The victim followed her and called the CCSO before Bocwinski parked her Cadillac SUV in front of her house in the Waterways community.
According to the report, Bocwinski began walking down the driveway, yelling obscenities as the victim pointed her out to deputies who arrived at the home.
Deputies said Bocwinski tried to get in her vehicle again as they tried to talk to her.
She stopped, and a deputy reported smelling a strong odor of alcohol coming from Bocwinski.
According to the sheriff's office, Bocwinski continuously stated that she had not been in a crash despite a deputy noticing that her vehicle had fresh damage to the front bumper.
The CCSO said Bocwinski was aggressive and tried to walk back into her home. According to the report, she could not maintain her balance and began to stumble.
Bocwinski initially refused to participate in field sobriety tests but changed her mind after the deputy explained the consequences of not participating, the CCSO said.
According to the CCSO, Bocwinski stopped an exercise several times because she found it difficult to follow instructions.
Bocwinski was then arrested on charges of hit-and-run (leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage), DUI and DUI damage to property.
Bocwinski was then given another charge for refusing to submit a blood alcohol concentration test while in jail. She was also given citations for DUI, DUI refusal and DUI property damage.
