14th annual Twins Tot 5K and Walk for drowning prevention in Charlotte County set for Saturday

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. —

On Saturday, the 14th annual Twins Tot 5K and Walk is taking place on the Gulf Coast for drowning prevention.

The organizer and president of Just Against Childhood Drowning Foundation, Paul DeMello, started this after his twin sons Joshua and Christian drowned in an accident in 2010.

The goal is to achieve a zero-percent drowning rate for children.

The run is $35, and kids under 12 are free at South County Regional Park in Charlotte County.

Event proceeds are for swimming lessons and water safety outreach.
