Amazon spends $20 million on 233 acres near Punta Gorda Airport

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. (WINK)—Amazon purchased more than 230 acres near Punta Gorda Airport for about $20 million.

According to a news release from LSI Companies, Amazon paid around $86,600 per acre and finalized the purchase on March 20. 

The property is located off Jones Loop Road. The purchase marks the latest in a series of major land deals Amazon has made across Southwest Florida.

Amazon has acquired sites in Fort Myers and along Alico Road. Both locations operate as Amazon sorting and distribution facilities.

The company has not announced what it plans to build on the new Punta Gorda property.
