Man accused of shooting at a mother and son in Lehigh Acres after alleged parking spot argument

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. —

A man was arrested after deputies said he fired gunshots at a vehicle with a mother and son inside along Gretchen Avenue South in Lehigh Acres.

According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, Jason Bernard Lewis Jr., 25, fired two shots at their car while they were at a food truck on Tuesday. LCSO said Lewis got into an argument with the two over a parking space the day before.

"The victim and the suspect were acquaintances because they had an argument. There was an argument over a parking spot," Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said. "Our suspect decides he's going to come back and get even."

According to the sheriff's office report, the victims were driving out of a lot onto Gretchen Ave S when the son saw Lewis emerge from some bushes and shoot at their vehicle.

"Mom, son, thank God, nobody was hit," Marceno said. "But this is extremely violent behavior. This is not going to be tolerated."

A witness told deputies that they saw Lewis crouching down behind bushes and loading ammo into a handgun.

Lewis was arrested by deputies after they responded to a home along 27th St SW for a residential search warrant. He is facing one weapons offense for firing into the vehicle and one count of possession of a weapon (or ammo) by a convicted Florida felon.
