Some Charlotte Co. restaurants to only serve water upon request under extreme water shortage rules

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. —

The Southwest Florida Water Management District has declared a Modified Phase III "Extreme" Water Shortage for parts of Charlotte County.

According to Southwest Florida WMD, from April 3 to July 1, watering hours for residents are reduced to 12:01 a.m. to 4 a.m. only. This restriction also applies to residents on private wells.

Also included in the restrictions is a policy for restaurants and other food serving establishments: they can only serve water upon request.

Watering days are based on the last number of your street address and can be found below:

• 0 or 1: Monday
• 2 or 3: Tuesday
• 4 or 5: Wednesday
• 6 or 7: Thursday
• 8 or 9: Friday (also for locations with mixed or no address, such as subdivision common areas)
