Former Collier County school employee accused of arranging meeting with 15-year-old girl

NAPLES, Fla. (WINK)— A former Collier County School District employee faces human trafficking charges after deputies say he tried to arrange a meeting with someone he believed was a 15-year-old girl.

Ricardo Mitchell was last employed at Gulf Coast High School in 2018, according to the school district. The school is located near Immokalee Road and Collier Boulevard outside of Naples.

Mitchell faces multiple charges for attempting to arrange a meeting with a minor. A Collier County Sheriff's Office detective posed as a 15-year-old girl in an online chat, leading to Mitchell's arrest.

The 50-page arrest report details disturbing messages between Mitchell and the undercover officer. Mitchell repeatedly asked for oral sex in exchange for money, as well as explicit photos and videos.

Deputies arrested Mitchell at an undisclosed location in Miami that was set up through the online conversations. He is being held in Miami-Dade County without bond.

WINK News is working to determine what position Mitchell held within the Collier County Public School District during his employment.
