Man accused of drunk driving car through Daytona Beach airport gate, trying to break in to 3 planes

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. —

A man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after being accused of drunk driving through a gate at the Daytona Beach International Airport and attempting to break in to three planes.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, at around 4:23 p.m., reports came in of a vehicle crashing through a gate at the international terminal of the airport and proceeding onto the airfield.

Witnesses said that the car almost hit a taxiing plane before the driver got out of the car.

The driver, identified as Bryan Parker, 58, was highly intoxicated and approached an occupied, running plane and attempted to enter it, VCSO said. He was unable to, as the plane was locked.

Parker ran to an unoccupied airplane in the area, entered it, but was then chased down and pulled out of the plane by an airport operations technician.

The technician sat Parker down on his truck's tailgate, but Parker immediately jumped off the tailgate and ran toward another plane before being caught and put in handcuffs, VCSO said.

Parker told deputies he was drunk and on drugs and did not remember what led to the incident.

Charges are pending, but according to the Volusia County Corrections website, Parker currently faces the following charges:

Aircraft piracy
Burglary of an unoccupied conveyance
Trespass upon operational area of an airport
Indecent exposure
Indecent exposure
Criminal mischief
DUI with damage to property
Refusal to submit to DUI testing
DUI (3rd offense within 10 years)
