Ruthie, the dog dragged behind a moving truck by her leash in a February animal abuse case, is on track to make a full recovery, the Lee County Sheriff's Office said on Friday.
According to a Facebook post, Ruthie is healing from her injuries and doing well.
Back in February, LCSO announced in a news conference that Johnny Davis, 69, dragged the two-year-old Australian Cattle Dog behind his Ford F-150 truck in North Fort Myers.
After an investigation, Ruthie was removed from Davis' home and transported to Lee County Domestic Animal Services for immediate emergency care. She had severe injuries consistent with extensive road rash.
Davis was arrested on an aggravated animal cruelty charge and is expected in court on Monday.
