4 drivers arrested in one night, accused of driving dangerously in Lee County

LEE COUNTY, Fla. —

Skid marks are still in the road along US-41 after Lee County Sheriff's Office deputies say a reckless driver swerved across multiple lanes. Deputies and police also say the driver who did it wasn't the only reckless driver from Thursday night.

"Back in 2020, my daughter was killed by a reckless driver who fled the scene," said Christine Gray in North Fort Myers.

She knows how badly reckless driving can end.

"They do concern me a lot. I brought my grandbabies down here now and everything, so I pay attention to a lot of this," Gray said.

In North Fort Myers, deputies say Welsey Robertson was arrested after swerving his car across multiple lanes of US-41.

In Fort Myers, police say Dino Campese was trying to race four other people down the diverging diamond on Colonial Boulevard.

In Cape Coral, police say Erick Giron was caught going over a hundred miles per hour, and Cameron Zohler was arrested for stunt driving.

In response, the Lee County Sheriff's office said, "There is no place for this type of criminal activity in our county. Our top priority is keeping our residents and visitors safe, especially when traveling on Lee County roads."

"They do whatever they please, regardless of the consequences for others," Gray said about reckless drivers. "That's become an extreme problem out here."
