As rain continues to fall, find out who has seen highest totals

SOUTHWEST FLORIDA, (WINK) — WINK News Weather Authority Meteorologists are continuing to track rain this evening, with some places already picking up more than an inch today.

The rain will come to an end for the night by 11pm. Overnight, temperatures will cool in the upper 60s under partly cloudy skies. 

This rain is due to a cold front stalling out over SWFL, increasing the amount of moisture available for showers and storms.

There is also high pressure along the eastern seaboard, and that, coupled with our cold front, is leading to breezy conditions throughout the day.

Expect a breezy, cloudier setup through the rest of the day, with rounds of showers and a few storms redeveloping.

Inland areas got in on the early activity, but as that easterly wind kicks in, the focus shifts, with coastal communities more likely to get wet this afternoon.

The clouds and rain-cooled air will keep things in check temperature-wise, with highs only reaching the upper 70s to lower 80s. It will be very sticky, with dewpoints near 70 degrees.

Monday

Monday brings a similar setup. That stalled front isn’t going anywhere just yet, keeping plenty of moisture in place. The first half of the day looks quieter, which should allow temperatures to climb back into the upper 80s, but scattered storms return in the afternoon and evening, something to keep in mind for the drive home. 

This week

Looking ahead, rain chances stick around each day this week, with temperatures warming back above average into the upper 80s. 

As for Easter Sunday, a few showers could pop up but overall looks drier. We’ll refine that forecast as we get closer. Stay tuned! 

Beach and boating

Today is not likely to be a good boat day. Scattered storms will be present along our immediate coastline, and winds are out of the northeast between 15 and 20 knots.

Gusts could be even higher, so a small craft advisory is in place. Gulf wave heights reach 2 to 3 feet, with our bays and inland waters staying choppy.

The Gulf water temperature is warming to 79 degrees.
