Man arrested on Fort Myers Beach, accused of meeting up with 15-year-old girl

FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. —

Deputies said they found a 26-year-old man sleeping in his backseat with a 15-year-old girl at Lynn Hall Memorial Park on Fort Myers Beach early Sunday morning.

"Fort Myers is trying to come back — period," said Lisa Hurley. "Then, you see these men coming down here and just this setback, you're scared for your kids."

Visitors and locals were alarmed when Marlon Rojas traveled to Lee County to meet up with the 15-year-old.

"He definitely knew how old she was," said Tanner Wineinger. "You just got to get creeps, like, off the streets."

Deputies found the girl with Rojas in the backseat of his car. The 15-year-old denied having sex with Rojas, but deputies said her underwear had been taken off. Investigators then found nude images of an underage girl on Rojas' phone.

"They're lucky they found her despite what was going on," said Sheri Hawken from Michigan. "They're lucky they got her, get her out of that and home safe."

The sheriff's office discovered all of this from a simple call about a suspicious car at the park.

"If you see something that looks suspicious, may as well call, like you got nothing to lose," Wineinger said. "You might save someone."

Rojas was arrested on charges of lewd and lascivious acts, child pornography, and using obscene communication to travel to meet a minor. The sheriff's office said he is being held for Immigration and Customs Enforcement in the Lee County Jail.
