Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Club donates $1,400 in gas gift cards to TSA agents at RSW

FORT MYERS, Fla. —

The Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Club donated $1,400 in gas gift cards to TSA personnel at Southwest Florida International Airport to help with difficulties brought on by the partial government shutdown.

The club said it raised $1,400 in "Happy Bucks," a tradition where, at the beginning of each Rotary meeting, members share personal or community updates while making a small donation. These donations support a variety of causes.

Members chose to direct their giving toward TSA agents in recognition of their ongoing service and dedication, as many agents have been working without pay due to the partial government shutdown, the club said.

The donations were converted into gas gift cards and delivered to TSA personnel at RSW on Friday.

“This effort reflects the heart of our Rotary club,” said Paul Hawkins, president of the Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Club. “Our members are always looking for ways to give back and show appreciation for those who serve our community.”
