Search underway for suspect on the run in Port Charlotte, residents asked to remain indoors

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. —

There is an increased deputy presence in the area of Malone Avenue Monday afternoon as Charlotte County deputies search for a suspect who is possibly armed.

The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office said the suspect fled on foot from deputies, and residents are encouraged to remain inside at this time.

Gulf Coast News has reached out to CCSO for a description of the suspect and what led to a deputy response.
