Emergency crews respond to medical crisis at Port Charlotte home

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (WINK)—The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office responded to a home on Conreid Drive for a medical emergency.

WINK News reached out to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office for more information. The agency has not yet provided details about what happened at the home.

Forensic science vehicles and yellow tape remained at the scene hours after the initial response. Earlier, neighbors reported seeing fire engines, several deputy vehicles, and emergency response teams outside the home.

One neighbor who spoke to WINK News off camera said he saw emergency responders giving CPR to a child. Neighbors said the home is rented out as an Airbnb, so they did not recognize the boy or his family.

"I'm sure the mother and father's worst nightmare," said Karen Verber, a neighbor. "Very sorry to hear it for everyone involved. I'm sorry for the family, and I'm sure for the owner of the Airbnb, it is a headache and a tragedy."

Neighbors said they are heartbroken over the incident. The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office has not released additional information about the medical emergency or the condition of those involved.
