1 dead after deputies respond to domestic disturbance in Englewood

ENGLEWOOD, Fla. (WINK) — The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office said a person died after a deputy shot them during a domestic disturbance on Barker Avenue in Englewood on Wednesday.

CCSO said deputies responded to a home for a domestic disturbance involving an armed person who was holding another person at gunpoint. When deputies arrived on scene, the individual pointed a gun at them, leading a deputy to fire their weapon.

Deputies attempted CPR, but the person died from their injuries. The scene is still active as CCSO collects evidence.
