4 injured, 1 airlifted after fiery 2-car crash closes Estero roads

ESTERO, Fla. (WINK) — The Lee County Sheriff’s Office, along with other first responders are on the scene attending to a two-vehicle crash that has closed Carter and Corkscrew roads in Estero.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office says two cars were involved in the crash. One of the vehicles caught fire.

Four people were hurt and rushed for treatment. One person had to be flown from the scene by helicopter.

Justin White was driving home from work when traffic suddenly stopped. At first, he thought it was just a minor crash.

"I was the very first, only vehicle up front. There was a semi behind me, but we were the only ones. They coned us off inside the crime scene, if you will. And I noticed there was a body lying in the ditch," White said.

White was stopped for nearly 15 minutes before realizing he was stuck inside an active crime scene.

"There was a lot of work being done. I then saw the medevac fly in land behind the emergency vehicles. It sat there for roughly 15 minutes or so," he said.

The sheriff's office says no one was trapped in the vehicles.

For White, the experience was hard to watch.

"First thing I did. I prayed and I just sat there and it was no joy. There's nothing you know. You don't want to see that. No one wants to see that. So I just sat there and prayed," White said.

The conditions of the four injured people have not been released.
