Man accused of ditching drugs, gun while running from deputies in North Fort Myers

NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. —

A man was arrested in North Fort Myers on Tuesday after being accused of running from deputies at a traffic stop and discarding a gun along the way.

According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, deputies saw a vehicle traveling on Many Road with no active tag lights on the license plate. Due to the violation, deputies attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle.

The driver, identified as Olivier Fevrier-Sildor, 26, drove to a nearby Walmart parking lot and threw a backpack out of the passenger window before coming to a stop, LCSO said.

Fevrier-Sildor refused to exit the vehicle despite deputies' commands and began making movements near his waistband, according to LCSO. Fevrier-Sildor then ripped his arm away from deputies, pulled a black handgun from his hip and ran from the deputies, discarding the gun into a field.

Deputies tased Fevrier-Sildor and detained him. Deputies searched the backpack Fevrier-Sildor had discarded and found narcotics and drug paraphernalia, LCSO said.

Fevrier-Sildor was arrested and faces charges of possession of a weapon or ammo by a convicted felon, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, tampering with evidence in a criminal proceeding and obstruction without violence.

"This fleeing felon was no match for our deputies," said Sheriff Carmine Marceno. "Eight arrests later and the outcome is the same...we will continue to take criminals like this off our streets."
