PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (WINK)—Charlotte County deputies investigated a disturbance involving a teenager at Lake Betty Park.
The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office confirmed there was a disturbance involving a juvenile but provided few details about what led to the large deputy presence. Investigators were seen walking through the park with bags and flashlights as they searched the area.
Deputies blocked traffic along Conway Boulevard all evening, not allowing any vehicles through. People who live along the road were told to park nearby, with deputies escorting them safely to their homes.
"It makes me scared because the other day we had shootings on the other side of this street, so it just makes me wonder what's going on around here," said neighbor Symphony Randolph.
Randolph said what she saw was not normal for the neighborhood.
"Kids after school playing basketball or families coming with their children," Randolph said. "I hardly see kids just hanging around."
Deputies did not say what investigators were looking for or what happened at the park.
