Large brush fire burns with large plumes of smoke near I-75 in Charlotte County

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. —

A large brush fire is burning in Charlotte County, east of I-75, near the Lee County line, Thursday afternoon.

Live video above from the Florida Department of Transportation shows large plumes of dense smoke moving across the interstate near mile marker 150.

The Florida Forest Service is now reporting the fire, named the "21051 Granville Road- Charlotte" fire, with no acreage or containment available as of 4:45 p.m.

The Gulf Coast News Live Radar does not show any lightning strikes in the area before the fire started; however, strong storms are now moving through the area.
