Margaret Sirianni, Fort Myers athletics pioneer, dies at 90

FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK)—Margaret Sirianni, the matriarch of Fort Myers High School football, died at 90.

Sirianni's husband, legendary Fort Myers High School football coach Sam Sirianni Sr., served at the high school for decades. Margaret Sirianni worked for 33 years in Lee County athletics.

She is credited for bringing girls golf to the county and led Fort Myers to a state runner-up finish in 1978. She also contributed to the Green Wave football program and served on the Lee County School Board.

Sirianni was battling Alzheimer's when she died. A public celebration of life will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, April 17, at the Edison-Ford Winter Estates in Fort Myers.
