New details released following fatal drowning of child in Port Charlotte

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (WINK) — The Florida Department of Children & Families released findings following the fatal drowning of a child on Tuesday.

DCF said the child who died in the drowning was 11-years-old and medically compromised. The report said that the child was found unresponsive in a swimming pool when he managed to get out of the home while the mother was using the bathroom.

According to Charlotte County Fire & EMS, the drowning report was made at a home located on Conreid Drive at approximately 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday.

Upon arrival, crews found CPR already in progress and immediately began advanced life-saving measures; however, the child did not survive.
