Suspect in custody following fatal shooting near MLK Blvd.

FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK) — The Fort Myers Police Department has caught a suspect following a homicide at a D&D Convenience Store on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

An update at 8:55 a.m. on Thursday revealed that police were actively searching for a suspect considered armed and dangerous in the area of MLK and Veronica Shoemaker boulevards.

According to the police department, this is an active homicide investigation with one victim.

The School District of Lee County implemented a limited lockdown at three schools in the area out of an abundance of caution. The lockdowns have since been lifted, and normal operating procedures have resumed.
