Woman accused of firing gun at teens following Port Charlotte fight

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (WINK) — A woman allegedly fired shots at a vehicle fleeing a park after a fight involving juveniles left one injured.

Deputies said they responded to Lake Betty Park at 2215 Conway Boulevard around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday for a disturbance with shots fired. Criminal Investigations took over the case due to the nature of the call.

Detectives said they found that three juvenile males were involved in an altercation, resulting in one of them receiving minor injuries. During the fight, one of the juveniles allegedly called Lakeshia Taylor and told her what was happening.

Taylor drove to the park and saw several juveniles leaving in a vehicle while the juvenile who called her remained on the ground. She then pulled out a firearm and fired at the vehicle as it tried to flee the parking lot.

Taylor is now in custody. The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident.
