A mom and daughter were arrested on Monday after the mother was accused of encouraging her daughter to fight another girl.
According to the Cape Coral Police Department arrest report, Elani Deno, 33, brought her 12-year-old daughter, Lanah Deno-Reisler, to the home of the 13-year-old victim to fight the victim.
A majority of the incident was captured on security cam footage, which was shown to police.
The footage showed Elani and Lanah walking up the driveway of the victim's home. The daughter then confronted the victim about an incident that happened at school.
Lanah would later tell officers that the victim threw a barbecue sauce packet at her during lunch, the report said.
The victim can be heard in the footage multiple times stating that she did not want to fight. The victim was standing in the garage of the home when Elani can be heard telling Lanah, "Do what you need to do," the report said.
Lanah then walked towards the garage, removed her sandals, and entered the garage, where the victim was. The two girls can be heard fighting on the footage, CCPD said.
Elani is seen standing on the driveway watching the fight happen. After a short period of time, Elani enters the garage and can be heard saying, "That's enough," before breaking up the fight, according to the arrest report.
Elani can be heard telling Lanah, "Good job," as they leave the scene.
The victim sustained multiple injuries, including scratches, in the fight, CCPD said.
Officers spoke with the victim and her mother and obtained the security camera footage.
Elani and Lanah were called into the CCPD headquarters and questioned. Lanah told officers the fight occurred after the victim threw a sauce packet at her during school lunch, with the incident escalating on Snapchat as the day went on.
Elani was arrested and faces charges of burglary and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Lanah was arrested and faces a charge of burglary with assault or battery.
