Brush fire ignites 16-plus acres near State Road 82 and Wildcat Dr in Lee County

LEE COUNTY, Fla. —

A 16.3-acre brush fire that started in the area of State Road 82 and Wildcat Drive in Lee County Friday afternoon has been contained.

According to the Lehigh Acres Fire Control & Rescue District, all structures were protected by crews from the fire. The Florida Forest Service said the fire was 16.3 acres.

Estero Fire Rescue, the San Carlos Park Fire District and FFS also assisted. Crews are mopping up hot spots, according to the district.

The fire district said residents in the area should expected to see and smell smoke, but they encourage anyone to call 911 for fires on the outside of the burned area.
