Deadly hit-and-run crash involving vehicle, bicycle under investigation in Lehigh Acres

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. (WINK) — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly hit-and-run crash involving a bicycle and a vehicle in Lehigh Acres.

The crash was reported to troopers and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at around near midnight on Thursday near James Avenue and East 5th Street.

WINK News has contacted the Florida Highway Patrol for more information regarding this crash.

According to troopers, the fatal crash was reported just before midnight, where a bicyclist was traveling westbound on East 5th Street and was struck by a vehicle. 

The bicyclist was transported and later pronounced deceased. The vehicle fled the scene. Troopers are expected to provide further details on this crash on Friday. 

The crash remains under investigation.
