Tussock moth caterpillars are beginning to appear in Florida, and while the insects may seem friendly and fluffy, this particular species is poisonous and should not be touched.
According to the Florida Poison Control Center, Tussock moth caterpillars are showing up on homes, cars and outdoor furniture across the Sunshine State.
The caterpillar's fuzzy hair acts like tiny needles and can cause painful, itchy rashes if touched.
Experts say to keep your distance from these insects and use tape to remove the hairs if exposed to them.
FPCC also noted that if a child has a reaction to the caterpillar's hairs, contact the poison control center at 1-800-222-1222.
