Lee County deputies confirm murder-suicide in Fort Myers neighborhood

FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK) — The Lee County Sheriff's Office is conducting an active death investigation at a residence in the Timber Ridge neighborhood that has now been confirmed as a murder-suicide.

According to the sheriff's office, the overnight incident on Ledgewood Circle in the Gateway community has been determined to be a murder-suicide. Deputies say this was an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the public. The investigation remains active.

Earlier, deputies said the scene was contained, and all parties were accounted for.

WINK News reporter Haley Zarcone reported seeing police tape blocking off a home farther down Ledgewood Circle, with a mobile command center arriving on scene Friday night. The crime scene unit was also present, along with nearly a dozen deputy cruisers.

Deputies asked WINK News to remain farther down the road as they continued interviewing neighbors.

The sheriff’s office has not yet released additional details about those involved or the circumstances leading up to the incident.
