Man accused of speeding away from troopers in Lehigh Acres

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. —

A Fort Myers man was arrested Friday after he was accused of speeding and attempting to avoid troopers in Lehigh Acres Sunday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Adrien Newson, 24, was arrested after troopers were monitoring traffic on Lee Boulevard at 2 a.m. FHP said they saw a Chevrolet driving with its left turn signal on.

Eventually, troopers say Newson is accused of going at high speed on Kenneth Avenue and turning off the Chevrolet's lights.

Troopers said they attempted to stop Newson, but he is accused of attempting to evade being stopped. He reportedly stopped on Ivan Avenue and went into a residence.

Newson was located and arrested. He is facing charges of fleeing/eluding, reckless driving, resisting - obstruction without violence and moving traffic violation.
