Megan Wilk said her family wants justice after a driver hit and killed her brother, then drove off on East Fifth Street and James Avenue in Lehigh Acres on Thursday night. The tire marks and spray-painted markers are still in the road, as Florida Highway Patrol says the search for the driver continues.
"I'm really hoping just for justice. He was just riding his bike home. He did not deserve this. We want justice for my brother," said Megan Wilk.
Megan says her family has been trying to take it day by day after losing her brother, Ron Wilk. She shared memories of him after he was hit and killed while riding his bike home.
"He lit up a room. He had a great smile. He always loved kids. He was the best. He was the best uncle. I have three sons, and he just loved to be outside," Megan said.
Florida Highway Patrol says they're working to determine if one or two cars hit the cyclist on East Fifth Street and James Avenue.
Troopers say a witness saw a red SUV and a gray car stop at the scene. FHP says they have been able to find a red SUV in front of a home in Lehigh and are now investigating if it's involved. As the investigation continues, Megan shares her message for the driver — or drivers — who took her brother's life.
"In my heart, I know I would forgive them, and they're forgiven. Accidents do happen, and I know it can be scary. A lot of things in life are scary, but we just have to do it, you know? Especially if you're responsible," Megan said.
Troopers say they're still looking for the other gray car that may be involved. According to FHP, it might have a missing hubcap and a broken headlight.
