Artemis II crew passes halfway point on historic moon mission

The four astronauts on the Artemis II mission are more than halfway to the moon on their lunar round trip as of Sunday. The crew in space and at Houston Mission Control have been busy.

The day started with a wake-up call from Charlie Duke, the youngest astronaut at 36, to walk on the moon.

Earning a flown astronaut pin is quite an achievement, and receiving it in space makes it even more special. Jeremy Hansen earned his upgraded pin.

The Artemis II crew evaluated the Orion Crew Survival System suit. The crew also had to use the rocket engine to make a correction burn and entered the moon's gravity.

The astronauts have been taking pictures, including one of the moon, parts of which have never been seen by humans before. The crew will circle the moon on Monday and the mission is going as planned.
