Homes evacuated after gas leak along Rattlesnake Hammock Road in Collier County

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. —

A gas leak along Rattlesnake Hammock Road near Royal Wood Boulevard prompted evacuations for nearby homes on Monday afternoon.

According to the Collier County Sheriff's Office, the gas leak was caused by area construction, and all of westbound Rattlesnake Hammock Road is closed at the location.

The sheriff's office also said several homes have been evacuated, and the closure is expected to last at least two hours.
