Man accused of murder following death investigation on Brassy Loop in North Port

NORTH PORT, Fla. —

A man is accused of murder following a death investigation at a home on Brassy Loop in North Port.

According to the North Port Police Department, Coy Bothwell, 46, has been arrested and faces a charge of second-degree murder without premeditation.

The arrest follows an active death investigation NPPD on Sunday.

The victim and Bothwell are known to each other and the incident is isolated, NPPD said.

The investigation is ongoing.

“I’m incredibly proud of the swift action and dedication shown by our Criminal Investigations Division and Crime Scene Unit,” said Chief Garrison. “Because of their hard work and commitment, this individual is behind bars tonight.”
