CAPE CORAL, Fla. (WINK) — According to the Cape Coral Police Department, an attempted turn in of an old grenade leads to the temporary closure of the police lobby, records window and parking lot.
At 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Cape Coral police announced on its Facebook page of the temporary closure which included the entirety of Cultural Park Boulevard at Southeast 11th Street.
At 1:20 p.m., the roadways and police station services have reopened, resuming normal traffic and service.
According to the Cape Coral Police Department’s Public Information Officer, someone attempted to turn in an old grenade that they had found.
Out of an abundance of caution, police closed the area to investigate. They later determined that there was no safety risk.
