Gulf Coast News congratulates Meteorologist Jason Dunning, heading to sister station in Milwaukee

FORT MYERS, Fla. —

Gulf Coast News congratulates morning meteorologist Jason Dunning as he prepares to begin a new chapter with Hearst Television sister station WISN-TV in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

After nearly 15 years at Gulf Coast News (WBBH), Dunning will join WISN 12 as its weekday morning meteorologist beginning April 27.

He will appear on the station's morning newscast from 4:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. and again at 11 a.m.

Jason has been a trusted source of weather for Gulf Coast viewers since 2011, with his calm and clear forecasting. Over the years, he helped guide families across Southwest Florida through some of the area's most significant weather events, including Hurricanes Irma, Ian, Helene and Milton.

"Jason has been an invaluable member of our team and a steady, reassuring voice for our viewers during some of the Gulf Coast's most challenging moments,” Darrel Lieze-Adams, president and general manager of Gulf Coast NBC & ABC, said. “We're incredibly grateful for his dedication and wish him continued success in this next chapter.”

A Florida native, Dunning grew up in Palatka and grew his passion for weather at a young age. He earned his bachelor's degree in telecommunications from the University of Florida and his master's degree in geosciences from Mississippi State University.

Before joining Gulf Coast News, Dunning worked at WCBI-TV in Mississippi, where he covered a historic and deadly tornado outbreak.

"The Gulf Coast will always hold a special place in my heart," Dunning said. "It has been an honor to serve this community and help keep families safe during some of the most significant weather events in our region. I'm incredibly grateful for the trust our viewers placed in me over the years.”

Dunning's last day on air at Gulf Coast News will be Friday, April 17.
