Man accused of threats against community, law enforcement before Collier County apartment standoff

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. —

New details have emerged from the report about the standoff situation that was resolved at the Lago Apartments in Collier County Friday and led to a man being arrested for reportedly making threats.

According to the Collier County Sheriff's Office's arrest report, Peter Hooker, 60, was accused of texting violent threats directed at the Lago Apartments community and law enforcement in a community group for the apartment complex.

The manager of the complex confirmed the existence of the texts with deputies, the report states.

SWAT and a K-9 entered Hooker's unit hours into the standoff, and he was detained after a K-9 bit his right leg, according to the sheriff's office's report. He was then taken to NCH Downtown in Naples for further medical treatment.

Detectives said they reportedly found live ammunition in a closet, even though Hooker has an injunction that does not allow him to have firearms and ammunition.

Hooker was taken to Naples Jail Center and is facing charges of written threats to kill and violation of injunction for possession of live ammunition. Additionally, the Naples Police Department said he was arrested again and is facing a charge from an arrest of contempt of court.
