North Fort Myers man accused of topping 100 mph in a 40 mph zone on Bayshore Rd

NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. —

A North Fort Myers man was arrested on Sunday after being accused of driving more than 100 mph in a 40 mph zone.

According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, a deputy was conducting traffic enforcement in the area of US-41 and Bayshore Road when they saw a red Mercedes-Benz C250 traveling at what appeared to be a high rate of speed.

The deputy utilized their radar and clocked the car at 110 mph in a 40 mph zone, LCSO said. The deputy immediately began pursuit and pulled the car over near the intersection of North Cleveland Avenue and Pine Island Road.

The driver was identified as Roark Garrison Campbell, 20. While speaking to Campbell, the deputy noticed the car smelled strongly of marijuana, LCSO said.

The car was then searched, which yielded multiple THC vape pens, cartridges, marijuana smoking bowls and more, according to LCSO.

Campbell was arrested and faces charges of operating a motor vehicle at 100+ mph and culpable negligence exposure to harm.
