Samsung to discontinue its messaging app

Samsung is advising users to switch to Google Messages as it plans to discontinue its homegrown text message app, Samsung Messages.

If you have a fairly new Samsung phone, there's a good chance it came with Google Messages set as its default texting app.

Owners of older phones are more likely to still be using Samsung Messages.

The company is discontinuing the app in July.
