The Florida Department of Health issued a water quality advisory for Lowdermilk Beach in Naples Wednesday.
According to the DOH, tests completed on Wednesday indicated that the recreational water quality at Lowdermilk Beach does not meet the criteria for Enterococcus bacteria.
Since the beach failed to meet the criteria, there is an increased risk of illness in swimmers and the DOH does not recommend water-related activities at the beach.
The DOH said that sampling conducted during regular water quality monitoring showed the level of bacteria exceeded the acceptable level established by state guidelines.
According to the DOH, the advisory will continue until the bacteria levels are below the accepted health level.
Lowdermilk Beach is located at 1301 Gulf Shore Boulevard North.
