LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. (WINK) — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly hit-and-run crash involving a bicycle and a vehicle in Lehigh Acres.
The crash was reported to troopers and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at around midnight on Thursday near James Avenue and East 5th Street.

According to troopers, the fatal crash was reported just before midnight, when a bicyclist, an adult male, 32, was traveling westbound on East 5th Street and was struck by a vehicle.
Post-collision, a witness observed a grey, unknown sedan and a red, unknown SUV stopped in the area of the collision.
Both unknown vehicles fled the scene. The bicyclist was transported, having sustained critical injuries, and was later pronounced deceased.
Troopers found the red SUV with frontal damage at a home in Lehigh Acres. Law enforcement impounded the vehicle and will conduct further forensic testing to determine if it was involved in the deadly crash.
Troopers did not identify the owner of the red SUV or whether any charges were filed against them.
Law enforcement asks the public for assistance in locating the grey sedan (possibly with a missing hubcap and damaged headlamp lens) or any information regarding the hit-and-run crash to contact the Florida Highway Patrol.
An update released on Thursday by the Florida Highway Patrol details that a blue Toyota Camry, suspected to be involved in the deadly hit-and-run crash has been impounded.
According to troopers, inspection of the vehicle found the front bumper of the Toyota was repaired, and the remaining hub caps removed.
No arrests have been made.
The crash remains under investigation.
