9-year-old med flighted following dog bite in Englewood

ENGLEWOOD, Fla. (WINK) — A 9-year-old child was medically flown to Tampa General Hospital after being bitten by a dog on the Suncoast Humane Society campus. 

On Wednesday, the Englewood Area Fire Control District, along with several Charlotte County first responding agencies, responded to the reported dog bite. The child was flown via med flight to Tampa General Hospital to treat their injuries.

The Suncoast Humane Society released a statement regarding the incident, saying that two children and their mother were meeting a dog when the incident occurred. 

Their team said immediate care was provided to the child, and emergency services were promptly called to ensure the child received the necessary medical attention.

Per the Charlotte County Fire & EMS, animal control was notified, and the dog is being quarantined for ten days.

The incident remains under investigation.
