Edison Park in Fort Myers celebrates 100th birthday Sunday with parade

FORT MYERS, Fla. —

Edison Park in Fort Myers turns 100 on Sunday, and to commemorate, the Edison Park Committee and EPNA are hosting a centennial celebration.

On Sunday, April 12, from 4 to 6 p.m., the momentous centennial event celebrating the park's 1926 grand opening will take place.

A parade featuring the Fort Myers High School band, Edison Park Elementary School drum corps, Fort Myers Fire Department's 1926 fire truck, 1920s vintage automobiles and a Thomas Edison impersonator will take to the streets in the area of Edison Park.

The parade will begin at 4 p.m., leaving from the Edison Park School's parking lot, and concluding at Edison Congregational Church in front of the Rachel at the Well statue.

Patrons are encouraged to join by walking the route, riding their bicycle or driving a decorated golf cart.

Following the conclusion of the parade, a mini-recital by Edison Park School's violinists will take place, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Mayor Kevin Anderson, re-dedicating Rachel at the Well after its restoration from the aftermath of Hurricane Ian.

Complimentary food and drink will be available, as well as history displays and kids' activities.
