Florida AG Uthmeier launches investigation into OpenAI and ChatGPT

FLORIDA, (WINK) —Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has launched an investigation into OpenAI and ChatGPT.

Announced on X Friday morning, the investigation intends to get answers on Artificial Intelligence's activities that he said have hurt kids, endangered Americans, and facilitated the recent FSU mass shooting.

He said that while AI is a monumental leap in technology, there are concerns about public safety and national security. 

Uthmeier stated that AI should advance mankind, not destroy it.

"Wrongdoers must be held accountable," he wrote.
