FPL warns of AI voice scams targeting customers

FORT MYERS, Fla. —

Florida Power & Light is warning customers about scammers who are using artificial intelligence-generated voices to impersonate company representatives and pressure individuals into making immediate payments.

"It sounds like a real person, but it is not," FPL said.

The company advises customers to protect themselves by hanging up, verifying any payment requests by calling the number listed on their bill, and never sharing personal information with unsolicited callers.
