LEE COUNTY, Fla. (WINK) — Drivers in Lee County should prepare for delays as the Wilson Pigott Bridge is set to temporarily close overnight on April 12 for construction.
According to the Florida Department of Transportation, the closure is part of a project to replace the bridge’s grid deck—work officials say is critical to keeping the bridge safe and functioning properly.

The bridge is scheduled to close overnight and will remain fully shut down for approximately 10 days. During that time, no traffic will be permitted across the bridge, including passenger vehicles, commercial trucks, buses, and delivery vehicles.
Drivers will be detoured to Interstate 75 as an alternative to Babcock Ranch Road/State Road 31. FDOT is urging motorists to plan ahead and expect additional travel time.
Despite the closure, local businesses south of the bridge will remain open and can still be accessed by taking State Road 31 northbound from State Road 80.
Emergency crews—including fire rescue, law enforcement, and EMS—will be stationed on the north side of the bridge to help maintain response times throughout the closure.
Construction is expected to begin overnight and, if weather and conditions allow, the bridge should reopen in about 10 days.
FDOT says it will continue to provide updates as the project progresses.
