CAPE CORAL, Fla. (WINK) — A Cape Coral police officer's quick actions saved the life of a choking infant who had stopped breathing.
Officer Tin Hill responded to a call involving a 3-month-old baby who was choking, not breathing and turning blue. Hill said the moment he heard it was an infant, nothing else in the world mattered.
"I jumped into my car, put it in drive, and focused on one thing only: getting there in time to help that baby survive," Hill said.

When Hill arrived, he sprinted into the living room and saw little Kayson in distress—still choking, not breathing and blue. Without hesitation, Hill picked him up and began delivering back blows.
After what felt like an eternity, Kayson began to breathe again. Hill said he has never been more relieved to hear a baby cry than he was in that moment.
"At the time, I didn't think of it as anything extraordinary," Hill said. "I was simply doing what I've been trained to do in a profession I love with all my heart."
The family later gave Hill a small gift. When he got home and opened it, he found two cards.

The first one filled his heart with gratitude. The second one overwhelmed him—it was a card from Kayson, with his tiny footprint inside and a note written on his behalf thanking Hill for saving his life.
"In my years in the military, corrections, and law enforcement, I have never been moved to tears like that," Hill said. "It was one of the most thoughtful and meaningful gestures I have ever received."
Hill said he will never forget that call, that family or that little boy who now has the chance to grow up and live a healthy, beautiful life. Moments like this are a powerful reminder of why officers do this job and the impact they can have when seconds matter most.
