Gov. DeSantis signs bill to change State Road 80 to President Donald J. Trump Highway

LEE COUNTY, Fla. —

Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill Tuesday to rename Palm Beach Boulevard, which runs from Lee County to Palm Beach County, as President Donald J. Trump Highway.

Palm Beach Boulevard is part of State Road 80, which stretches from Lee County to Palm Beach County.

Residents in Lee County shared differing opinions about the proposed name change on the 125-mile road.

"I think there's enough stuff already named after Donald Trump," said Mark Williams, a Lee County resident.

Patrick Durkin, another resident, said, "Well, I'm a huge Donald Trump fan. But despite that, I like Palm Beach Boulevard. Let's keep it that way."

Williams, who has lived on Palm Beach Boulevard for 15 years, said, "I kind of like it being Palm Beach Boulevard."

Durkin added, "I know a lot of people have been living here for years, and they're like, you know, it's Palm Beach Boulevard, and that's it."

The name change will take effect on July 1.
